Mit June Bum Park (*1976) möchte ich einen Künstler vorstellen, dessen Schwerpunkt auf Video-Arbeiten liegt. Aufgefallen ist mir Park mehr oder weniger zufällig – auf einem Werbefaltblatt seiner deutschen Galerie.

Der Südkoreaner gehört zur jungen und innovativen Künstlergeneration seines Landes und blickt schon auf eine beachtliche Ausstellungsliste zurück. Er war mehrfach in Europa, Nordamerika und natürlich Korea zu sehen.
June Bum Park befasst sich zwar nicht ausschließlich mit Architektur, aber zwei seiner bisherigen Arbeiten passen zum Thema.
Die „Occupation“ (oben) und ein weiterer Film „Advertisement“ – von beiden habe ich leider nur Stills gefunden – zeigen beide zunächst ein Gebäude mit bloßer Fassade, das eine in einer ländlichen Umgebung, das andere ein Hochhaus in einer (Groß-)Stadt.

Plötzlich greifen menschliche Hände aus dem Nichts ein und verwandeln das „nackte“ Haus mit Werbetafeln – mal in eine Bank, mal in einen Supermarkt, dann wieder in ein Sportgeschäft. Die Videos werden im Zeitraffer abgespielt.
The South Korean belongs to the young and innovative generation of artists in his country and already comes up with an impressive list of exhibitions. He was exhibited in Europe, Northern Amerika and, of course, Korea several times.
June Bum Park does not concentrate on architecture only, but still two of his recent works fit in this topic.
Both the „Occupation“ and another film „Advertisement“ – unfortunately I could only find stills – show, at first, a building with pure façade, one of them in a rural environment, the other one a high rise building in a (big) city.
Suddenly, human hands appear from nowhere and change the „naked“ house with advertisment – into a bank, a supermarket, a sports shop. The videos are played in fast motion.
